Patients in Exeter will get tests and scans more quickly and closer to home thanks to new investment that will expand Exeter’s Community Diagnostic Centre at the Nightingale Hospital.
As part of a national programme to grow NHS diagnostic capacity, Exeter’s centre will benefit from three new scanners and additional clinic rooms. That means a wider range of tests available locally and fewer people needing to travel further to hospital for appointments.
Community Diagnostic Centres like the Nightingale are already making a big difference, separating routine tests from hospitals and helping speed up diagnosis. Faster access to checks and scans can mean earlier treatment when needed, and quicker reassurance when you get the all-clear.
This expansion builds on positive local feedback about the Nightingale site and reflects this Government’s wider commitment to modernising the NHS and reducing waiting times. I’m delighted Exeter will continue to benefit from improved, community‑based care that puts patients first as we rebuild an NHS that’s fit for the future.
